MYOB

A few weeks ago, there were a few people outside of my job collecting donations for a christian program to get kids off drugs and alcohol. One of the guys saw me smoking on my break and started to tell me God could help me quit smoking.

He said he was telling me because hed been on all sorts of drugs and he was now two years sober and believes god can release anyone from addiction.

He kept going on about gods power and how my body is a temple of god and he wants to live inside me.

I politely let him talk but because he kept going on i then started to say i had no desire to quit smoking, i absolutely looooveeee smoking. He wouldnt give it up.

They were there for a few days and every time he saw me he kept on with his bullshit about my body being a temple of god, etc.

What is it about religion and politics that makes people believe they have a right to force their personal ideas on other people?

If someone asks, and is sincerely interested, then tell them your thoughts and beliefs. If someone is MINDING THEIR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS, then shut your fucking mouth.

Nobody has a right to force anyone to believe anything. As long as what you personally are doing does not cause harm or intrude upon others’ lives, then it’s nobody’s business but your own.

If i smoke, and im not standing next to you blowing cigarette smoke in your face, then it’s not your business, nor is it your place to tell me it’s harmful. Everyone knows it’s harmful. We choose to do it anyway. We like it.

Just like if i personally dont include myself in religion, im respecting you and your thoughts on it by not saying anything to you. What gives you, the religious one, the right to tell me what to believe and do and think?

Nothing gives you the right. You have your freedom of religion and i have my freedom to NOT be religious.

Dont believe in abortion? THEN DONT HAVE AN ABORTION. Its not your place to say its not the right choice for someone else. Nor is it your right to criticitze and berate someone who believes the opposite.

Damn straight. You’d think what you just said would be common sense? But no.
